Welcome!

I’m Chef Carla Freeman, Personal Chef and Owner of Purple Pantry Meal Creations. As a native Memphian, I grew up in a city and a loving home where eating delicious, wholesome food was an everyday experience. I was fortunate to have wonderful parents who were also excellent cooks and I always admired their attention to great taste and flavorful food. Growing up, I remember their love for different dishes and those dishes were the major focal point that brought our family and friends together.

I discovered my true passion for cooking when I became a mother. Preparing meals was never a daunting task. Instead it was extremely satisfying and even therapeutic. I began to prepare different courses for family occasions and special events at work. Friends and family would often express how much they enjoyed my food and even suggested that I should start my own catering business or open a restaurant. With all their encouragement combined with my personal experience with cooking, I finally decided to pursue my love of food as a Personal Chef. To kick start my business, I had the opportunity to connect with my son who is a Personal Trainer, and I offered meal prep services to his clients. I began serving them with fresh, custom-prepared meals on a weekly, bi-weekly and monthly basis.

My work history consists of 25+ years of working in the corporate environment. While working full-time and caring for my two children, I also managed to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Christian Brothers University as well as a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Phoenix. But even as I progressed in my career and higher education, my desire to delve more into the art of cooking and to utilize my creativity in the kitchen continued to grow stronger and stronger. After finally yielding to my passion, serving and preparing delicious meals has never felt like “going to work” as I did in the corporate world. I feel as if I’m finally living and operating in my purpose.

To further grow my business, I joined the United States Personal Chef Association and continued honing in on my cooking skills by attending additional culinary classes that focused on various types of cuisine and cooking techniques. Today, I continue to focus on preparing delicious food and even more importantly, providing exceptional service to my client.
